Ballet Arts Academy at the Old Waldorf School was established in 2005 by Jayne Stefani-Keating for the purpose of providing the community with a dance environment devoted exclusively to the study of classical ballet and its related arts. The Academy’s curriculum reflects Ms. Stefani-Keating’s desire to guide dancers through all levels of training and provide them with a sense of artistry and purity of style so that they, as individuals, may embrace the principles of The Classical Ideal.

Summer Workshop Information Ballet Arts Academy at the Old Waldorf School on Facebook News and updates from the Artistic Director, Mr. Hawkins I would like to congratulate all new and returning students and parents for all their hard work and support for the BAA's start of the 2009 season. The students, like the BAA, have gone through a beautiful metamorphosis and are becoming a true artistic and cultural presence in our community. I believe the BAA has been upgraded in talent, and it will be reflected in our winter concert/ lecture demo on Saturday December 5, 2009. In addition, the BAA welcomes the talents of professional ballroom dancers, Tracy and Paula Kirkham, as they invite Southern Maryland residents to discover the fun and beauty of social dancing. They will start off their series of lessons with instruction in the Fox Trot, Cha-Cha, Waltz and other beginning level ballroom dance styles. The artistic excellence of the Academy is now well established and “The Ballet Arts Society” aims to develop, maintain, and enhance the practical and aesthetic aspects of the Academy as this cultural and educational center in the heart of Waldorf flourishes. Contributions of time and energy directed toward the ongoing restoration, renovation and beautification of the Waldorf School, and private and public sponsorship and funding for student scholarships and full length ballets through grants and fundraising events are the main objectives of this organization. With the eventual founding of the BAA’s own regional performing ballet company, the Ballet Arts Society will serve as a wing of the Academy and will be an important, active, and respected entity in our cultural community. All lovers of ballet and the arts are invited to join. Please check the front desk for more information about becoming a member of the Ballet Arts Society and a “VIP”! Artistic Director and Ballet Master of the BAA, Mr. Hawkins is currently teaching a daily “Men’s Class” from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to accelerate and devote more time to the training of our male students.
